ARTICLE VI: DUTIES OF OFFICERS OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD
- PRESIDENT.
- The President shall insure that the affairs of the Local are in accordance with the Bylaws and Standing Rules.
- The President shall preside at all Local meetings and all Executive Board meetings.
- The President shall serve as the general representative of the Local when such representation is not otherwise designated.
- Together with the Treasurer, the President shall be responsible for the financial affairs of the Local.
- The President shall publicize and distribute agendas for Local membership and Executive Board meetings, and assure the distribution of information to the Local in conjunction with staff.
- VICE-PRESIDENT. The Vice-President shall assist the President in his or her duties, and shall assume the responsibilities of the President in the latter’s absence or incapacitation.
- SECRETARY. The Secretary shall record and keep the minutes of all actions of the Executive Board and membership meetings.
- TREASURER.
- The Treasurer, together with the President, shall be responsible for the financial affairs of the Local.
- S/he shall keep and maintain, adequate and correct financial records of the Local, and provide financial reports to the Local.
- S/he shall have access to an accurate list of dues-paying members.
- S/he shall prepare an annual report, showing income, expenditures, assets, and liabilities. This report shall be made available to members upon request.
- BOARD MEMBER(S) AT LARGE. The Board Member(s) at Large will assist in carrying out the Board’s duties.
- STEWARDS. The Unit 17 and 18 Stewards, whose positions are provided for in the MOUS for these units, have chief responsibility for librarian and lecturer grievances, respectively.
- The Steward, with help from the field staff, files grievances, negotiates on behalf of the membership, and insures compliance with the MOU.
- The Stewards are, ex-officio, members of the Executive Board and co-chair the campus Grievance Committee.
- The Stewards may also be the campus representatives to the Bargaining Team.
